There is a significant lag (sometimes up to 30 seconds) when selecting complex curves. When I explode the curves or create a planar surface, the lag goes away completely. Running Rhino 5 on MacOS Monterey. Anybody experiencing the same issue? Any help would be appreciated!
Hello- if you start a new file and make some new curves, does the problem exist?
-Pascal
Hey @joshuakirsch,
The version of macOS recommended for Rhino 5 were:
- macOS 10.14.6 (Mojave)
- macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra)
Monterey is pretty new, which doesn’t bode well for Rhino 5.
Are you using an Intel-based Mac, or a Silicon-based Mac?

Hi Dale,
I’m on a 2015 Intel iMac.
Yeah I know Rhino 5 is gonna be pretty out of date… although outside of this one issue, I’m really happy not to upgrade
Hi Pascal,
Correct. The issue persists across all files and has for some time now.
Hi @joshuakirsch,
Its not that Rhino 5 is out-of-date. Its that you’ve updated your macOS to Monterey - a version of macOS that Rhino 5 was not designed to run on.

Thanks, Dale. That makes sense. Sounds like I might just have to bite the bullet and upgrade…
Hi @joshuakirsch,
A 2015 iMac is no spring chicken. Try the Rhino 7 evaluation version first just to make sure you get the snappiness you want.
You might find the old system is just old…
