Karamba 3D CURVED SURFACE export to SCIA (using SAF)

Hello Karamba useres,

I´m doing diploma thesis with Karamba 3D included. The work includes export of the parametric model to SCIA. Model contains concrete columns, concrete plate surfaces (walls, slabs) and one curved surface. I´m using SAF component to export optimized model to SCIA. Most of the components transferred perfectly, except the curved shell surface… The curved shell surface was imported into SCIA as a plate surface, i.e. the shell was cut into mesh-shaped plates… (please see the figure)

Does anyone know of a solution? Or any alternative? How to get around this? It would help me a lot and since my thesis has to be done by December, I’m in a hurry…

Have a great time and thanks for the awesome community!

Hello @Martin_Černý,
currently SAF allows the export of flat surfaces only (see StructuralSurfaceMember — SAF Documentation documentation). This is why curved surfaces get exported as sets of triangular flat surfaces.
A workaround could be to use another import option of SCIA (e.g. via Koala) which does not rely on SAF.

Hello,
another option is to bake mesh, then export bake thing to dwg file and then import to scia as a general body, after it, you have to encircle the edges with curved plate.
Thanks
