Karamba 3 WIP on RH8 on macOS

This sound good! :building_construction: :100: Wish you and the team all the best, please let me know as soon as it is released. And hopefully there is a good solution for the AppleSilicon compatibility!

Best wishes,
Rudi

Hi everybody!

I am currently reading all of your messages. I was wondering if the prerelease of Karamba on Apple Silicon Mac would be a significant development today and if it will take some time before becoming available.

Best wishes and good luck with your work,

Jo

Any Estimate on how little we have to wait? (i am using rhino8 on m3 mac)

unfortunately there are major issues on the mac that need time to be addressed which will take more time than expected

Just to be clear: Karamba 2.2 installed via the package manager works natively on Intel Macs and with Rosetta enabled on Apple Silicon Macs.

I hope 3.0 will be release soon and that a good solution for a native ARM version can be found.

Cheers,
Rudi

My M3 MBP is Rosetta enabled but the 2.2.0.161 version from the package manager doesn’t work in Rhino 8. The menu doesn’t even show up in GH. I wish that there was at least a standalone installer for Mac.

Strange, it worked on all ARM-Macs that I tested. Did you actually launch Rhino using Rosetta (in the properties panel)?

There you go! I thought Rosetta would automatically run when it was installed. Now, not only does Karamba work just fine, but LunchBox shows up, too! Thank you so so much.

is there still hope for a mac update of Karamba 3?

All the old bugs still persist in the version 2.2, which already have been fixed in the newer version.
Together with Clemens, we could for example fix the massive memory leak for the Windows version, but on macOS the problem is still here and limits some workflows…

Best wishes and sorry to annoy you

Unfortunately we have had to push back further development of the mac version due to unforeseen circumstances. There is no expected release date for the mac version yet.
