Joining two surfaces as one for panelization purposes

Hey gang, Im aware this question has been brought up several times ( my apologies ) , but i just cant seem
qns.gh (10.4 KB)
to find the solution that works for my case.

Im looking to equally space out my grid , starting by creating a quad panel system with my facade.
However, it only takes in surfaces, and i cannot, for the love of god join both my untrimmed surfaces into one before i can start space out my grids again.

Any pointers is much appreciated.

Kindest,
LL

Hi @Liam_yongging ,

While you certainly can use LunchBox you’ll have more control over building your own “division” method.

Look up “surface panelization” for ideas.

If you must keep it as 1 surface, keep in mind there are some issues with “tight” angles and tolerances at corners in geometry like you have.

Perhaps a surfacing guru can help you further, I don’t deal with these kinds of surfaces much but here’s 3 options for creating a single surface from your input curve and 3 options for producing panels.

You’ll want to think about what kind of end result or panel sizes do I want and work backward from there as different division methods will yield different results… like do you want a full panel starting at each “corner” end or do you want a full panel “wrapping” the corner end, or “cutting” across the corner, etc.

There are more options of course but hopefully one of these methods helps you.
