Joining two rotating pieces so they move together

Hello all,

I’ve spent a while trying different commands to get this one to work, so here I am! The basis of what I’m attempting involves two rotating pieces (see pictures) in which when one moves the other will move with the end of it staying attached through the rotation. The issue I’m running into is despite having the plane origin for the second piece set to the end of the original one they continue to rotate on their own, not staying “attached” to each other.

Any help in the form of suggestions or manipulation to the file is greatly appreciated, although with that said I would prefer an explanation on how to fix it/ work around it so I can tackle this on my own in the future.

Best,

Hi @Aidan_Rich

I hope I understood you well, but did you want this rotation?
rotatie

Not quite, yes to the extent of both pieces moving together upon changing 1 of the sliders but no in the sense that I cannot change the angle of the second latter piece. Basically, I have angle parameters for each “piece” so that they can fold individually for each other. The issue I have is that both rotate freely but do not stay connected as if they were one piece through these rotations. Thanks for the help!

Here’s a method using a short script. (python and C# versions)
