I was getting an error message in Grasshopper…something about “archive file written with newer version” and I was googling it. One search result took me to grasshopper3d.com (I’ve been there before, but it’s been ages). It immediately said I was banned. I tried to access grasshopper3d.com directly (instead of via a search result link) and, yes, it seems I’m banned.
I have no idea why I’m banned from there. Can anyone from McNeel enlighten me (maybe via a DM if it’s sensitive somehow) and maybe even unban me?
[edit]
It seemed like an IP ban…it was immediate and I haven’t logged in over there in absolute ages. Also, if I’m even signed up over there, it’s likely under a different email (an old yahoo address, which I still have but rarely use anymore).
Someone is messing with that old Ning site and not bothering to explain it here. I can still see the site where there is now this message:
Attention! This site will be discontinued soon.
A responsible company who cares about their history would move all that content (HTML and images) to a new server and redirect the domain name so all the Google links would still work. The content would be static with no interaction, meaning no replies, comments or logins, but history and search engine position would be preserved.
Static content precludes some features, of course, and that’s fine with me. All ‘My Page’ features could go: ‘Blog Posts’, ‘Groups’, ‘Events’, ‘Photos’, ‘My Friends’, etc.
It would also be fine with me to drop the mobile (phone) format versions of each page.
