Did you checked for SubD modeling of this type of object?
Also Kangaroo could be involved to have the “physic” simulation.

You can model a pillow or cushion in Rhino. Take some of the beginner tutorials for NURBS surface and SubD modelling, and just take it from there.

You can model just about anything, but I’d avoid banknote printing plates—it’s one of those projects that might attract some unwanted visitors from the CIA.

SubD is one way to make it puffy and irregular. In Maya, you can “puff up” cushions, duvets, etc. with nCloth, which is far quicker than manual noodling; nCloth is also great for curtains, etc.

I think it’s only a matter of time before Rhino’s (Grasshopper’s) physics are used to make some sort of textile / cushion app similar to Marvelous Designer. Here’s a good video (skip to the part where they create the pillow)

Incredible software!!! But people are really starting to complain about the price. Even if an individual product’s fees aren’t terrible (but many are), “Subscription fatigue” is really starting to become a thing as all the SAS fees start piling up. Rhino is (hopefully) well positioned to help out a lot with that.

@keithscadservices - You can do many things in Rhino to represent upholstery and soft goods. You could already do a lot with NURBS and History, even more so since we have SubDs. Although the workflows might not be as straightforward or specific as in these other software, one can still achieve the look and feel and even do simulations (using Kangaroo).

Here’s a process using Rhino BETA’s InflateCrv, CageEdit and Bend:
