Hi Rhino community!
I’m encountering an issue with the Shrinkwrap command in Rhino. As you can see in the attached images and GIF, I’m using Shrinkwrap on a complex building model. However, it seems that Shrinkwrap is ignoring meshes with only one face.
This becomes problematic when I try to perform a rain simulation using Metahopper for rain trajectory checks. Since the single-pane surfaces are ignored… not sure if this is solely issue with Shrinkwrap, I think it has more to do with mesh being single pane?
has anyone ever experienced similar issues? please any suggestion or advice would be helpful
why.obj (1.7 MB)
I’m also sharing the OBJ file of the mesh, just in case. The original modeling was done in SketchUp, and I’ve moved a part of the model just to simulate on Metahopper.
Maybe there should be a proper way of migrating mesh from SketchUp to Rhino? I’ve already checked if the mesh is flipped, but all meshes are facing the right direction.
I’ve noticed that single-pane meshes are not recognized in Metahopper. I even tried offsetting the meshes, but it didn’t solve the problem. Why is this happening, and is there a solution for it?
This shrinkwraps fine if you add a bit of offset.
The mesh in the *.obj file is closed so it’s not a problem of single-faces but much rather thin glass windows…
I have not checked everything but it seems you could offset the mesh in a second step by about -0.03 but it creates a rather heavy mesh.

Thank you so much Martin!
bit of an offsetting won’t hurt so much for my simulation I think!
thank you!
