Issues With Rhino Render

Hi, I am using R7 and was in the middle of a project. I was setting up a print to PDF and had one portion of my page layout in rendered view and the rest in drafting layout. My PDF saved as desired, and I saved and closed the file.

When I reopened the file later, now the rendered viewport (of perspective view) is rendering all in black and does not show the project in the previously coloured render, even though the layers are still set up with render colours. If I use raytraced view it shows the project rendered properly.

I was wondering how I can revert the perspective view back to showing the rendered colours?

In the first screenshot you have Rendered view in use, in the second screenshot it is Raytraced.

Note though that RH-50153 Raytraced in Layout and print does not work

Yes, that first screen was in the rendered view that was applied when I reopened the file which is showing ALL BLACK. I cannot get the all black render to stop.

Prior to reopening the file, this is the view I originally had
BAGUEDARC.pdf (627.7 KB)

Hi -

Is that only the case in the layout or also in a viewport in model space?
Please run the Rhino SystemInfo command and copy-paste the result here.
-wim

Hi Wim,
Yes, when I go back into viewport model space it is also showing the black render if I am using the rendered view. If I switch to wireframe or shaded it shows the correct layer colours but if I switch back to rendered view it makes the entire model black again.

Here is the system info:

Thanks, Porsha, that looks fine.
Could you post your 3dm file?

Thanks Wim.

Is there some trick to uploading the 3DM file? When I try to add it as an upload it says my file is 0 bytes (which it definitely is not, LOL)

Hi -

You should be able to just drag it onto your post from the desktop or a folder in Finder.
That, or use the Upload button:

Ok I tried that, now it says my file is too big (it’s 37mb)

If you only have that one ring and a layout in that file, perhaps running ClearAllMeshes and saving then will make for a smaller file.

Alternatively, you can upload large files here - Rhino - Upload to Support.
If you use that option, make sure to copy the URL of this thread in the comments field.
