Hi all,
After scouring the forums and trying all possible solutions I could find independently with no success, I need to request assistance for this one. The issue is with an installation of Rhino 8 Version 8 SR28 (8.28.26041.11001, 2026-02-10) where it is freezing for an unusual length of time (>30 minutes) upon saving a file or deleting an object within a project.

Steps taken so far:
-
Ensured Rhino was added and set to dGPU in Display > Graphics
-
Ensured OpenGL settings within Rhino were set correctly as per Rhino 8 randomly freezes while doing nothing out of the ordinary - #11 by Japhy and Soooo, you bought a laptop with hybrid graphics and rhino doesn’t run right. READ THIS - Rhino / Windows Hardware - McNeel Forum
-
Updated Nvidia drivers to latest 595.71version (had 2025 version installed)
-
Verified power settings were set to Max Performance in Windows and NVIDIA Control Panel
-
Ran nvidia-smi in CMD; Rhino appeared in the process list, confirming correct GPU is being used
-
Ensured all latest Windows and manufacturer updates are installed
-
Confirmed no 3rd party plugins are in use
-
Projects files are being opened from, and saved back to, a local folder on C:\. Have even tested moving files to a second on-board SSD with no change to behaviour
Does anyone have any further suggestions or similar experiences with this particular CPU/GPU/iGPU combo and using Rhino8?
