Issues with Rhino 8 and hybrid GPU config

Hi all,

After scouring the forums and trying all possible solutions I could find independently with no success, I need to request assistance for this one. The issue is with an installation of Rhino 8 Version 8 SR28 (8.28.26041.11001, 2026-02-10) where it is freezing for an unusual length of time (>30 minutes) upon saving a file or deleting an object within a project.

Does anyone have any further suggestions or similar experiences with this particular CPU/GPU/iGPU combo and using Rhino8?

Hi software -

Is this specific to a certain file or can you also see this behavior in a new file from a factory-default template?
-wim

That’s not a GPU thing, it’s some kind of a Rhino bug.

If you can find a file where it happens reliably they may be able to figure it out.

We’ve tested with a variety of files, that other people are also able to work with with no issues and have not been able to replicate the same issue for anyone else, only on this particular workstation.

is there a reason you have gpu tessellation off?

Hi Kyle,

We have tested disabling this feature as per a suggestion on the linked article - Rhino 8 randomly freezes while doing nothing out of the ordinary - #11 by Japhy

We are seeing the same behaviour however whether this setting is enabled or disabled.

Hi software -

Did this use to work as expected on this workstation at some point in the past?
Have you tried the Reset command to revert Rhino to the factory defaults?

Hi Wim,

No this issue has been present since moving to this new device.

This was previously in use on another device and is used by others in the company with no issues.

I’ve now uploaded a procmon log file to Rhino, hoping they can offer some assistance or suggestions.
