Issue enabling clipping plane

Ok sounds good. Thanks for the workaround and video! It got me thinking of other uses for “object name”

I had another major issue I had yesterday that seems like a bug related to sections.
BETA (8.0.23262.12303, 2023-09-19)

I’m working with a reasonably complex assembly with lots of components and blocks.
I had a clipping plane placed but not active in the Perspective view. It is active in a layout view.
When I went to turn on the visibility, to view a section of the assembly in perspective view, my entire PC froze. I had to force power down.

I replicated this again immediately after restarting. It didn’t lock up the computer this time but Rhino stopped responding and never recovered.

Hi Nick -
Please start new threads for new issues. I’ve moved your post to a new thread.

I can’t reproduce this behavior in a test here.
If you can’t post your 3dm file here, please use tech@mcneel.com to get help with a non-public issue.

Hi Nick,

When Rhino is spinning, can you generate a DMP files and send it to us for evaluation?
Here are the instructions for for a DMP file from Windows.

The DMP file may be too big to attach to an email. Please use our upload system here. Use tech@mcneel.com as the recipient. Include the details in the note field about what you were doing in Rhino when the problem occurred.

Also attached or email tech@mcneel.com: .

  1. As @wim requested a 3DM file that will show us the error
  2. “step by step” procedure or video
  3. Open Rhino and type the command SystemInfo . Copy and paste the results into your reply.
If you email, include a reference to this Forum thread.

Thanks for testing.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Fugier

I can’t seem to replicate it today. I did it 3 times yesterday. Not sure what I’m doing differently…

I’ll keep testing periodically and email the requested info if I can replicate it again.

Thanks
