For my project I am creating a cantilevered pavilion, which follows an organic design and shape. I have created the shape I am wanting for my building in Rhino, however when I attempt to add thickness it doesn’t display properly and the final product ends up have gaps.
I have tried multiple ways to add thickness and the only command which is currently working to an extent is OffSet surface. This is giving the thickness I want in some areas, but fails in others. I understand that the shape I have created is fairly irregular and complex which may be causing this issue but I wanted to reach out and see if there was an alternative way to add 20cm worth of thickness, so I have a “roof” and “walls” rather than a skeleton.
I have uploaded 2 screen shots demonstrating my issue, as well as the rhino file.
This model is modeled in Meters but with only a .01 meter tolerance. I expect the detailed required here is smaller then that.
I would shift this to mm units to there is some tolerance to play with.
Also, the surfaces to twisted up, this will lead to a mess in the offset. Setting how the surfaces need to flow from one to the new would help in this case.
Thanks so much for your reply. I’m very new to rhino and this is my first time using the software for a project like this, how would I best approach setting how the surfaces need to flow from one to the other? I am also unsure what you mean by 2 rail sweep.
I also changed the file to mm, however it didn’t give me the option to scale the building up when I changed it, therefore it is now only 80mm long.
