Isolate modifying to selected

Using subd a lot in my daily product design work.

In blender the modifying is locked to selected object and this is a HUGE improvement in smoothness of working. Since then i can modify my parts without isolating them and dont have to zoom in to carefully avoid selecting other meshes/faces.

This one feature alone makes me go back to blender a lot to design things.

Can this be added?

interesting, i never actually missed that feature when switching from c4d to Rhino for modelling i even had to check quickly if that works there the same. i was not even aware that it was not available and must honestly say that i am glad that rhino does not work like that because it requires two extra clicks, first deselect the current object then select a different, which gets pretty fiddly and nerve wrecking eventually at least when you have many different objects to work with. and if you work with one object only you still have isolate/unisolate, which you can shortcut/alias if needed and is very fast like that.

the command isolate not only allows you to select within that part(s) but also removes the rest of not needed elements which is arguably an advantage either. of course at times you might want to see the other geometry as a reference, so its a bit of a mixed bag here with both concepts.

i dont mind if that would be an option and maybe could accustom myself to it even again, it might be handy for some situations, which might occur more often for others of course.
