maybe a script that takes the initial control point count into account and rebuild the resulting curve with an offset.
Offset with the Loose command is your friend. It’s an option that you click on on the command line.
But the deviation might be too big for your liking.
So a workaround is to rebuild your initial curve with more controlpoints first.

You may want to compare with your curves the results of Offset with Loose option to Offset with many points and then Rebuilding. Also Elmo in V9 WIP may give better results than Rebuild.
