Is there a Python method that allows pasting a URL?

We had a suggestion from one of our guys that basically was asking for the ability to paste a URL instead of using the BrowseForFolder method. I don’t know if the term URL is appropriate for locations in your own network, but the general idea is that he has a location of a folder already copied to the clipboard, and he would like to be able to paste that as opposed to browsing.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? Ideally, it would be best if there was a window that allowed you to browse OR paste. That would make everyone happy.

Thanks,

Dan

import System

addTextToClipboard = System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.SetText("some file path")
getTextToClipboard = System.Windows.Forms.Clipboard.GetText()
print "getTextToClipboard: ", getTextToClipboard # prints: some file path

addTextToClipboard = line is redundant if he already has an URL pasted to the clipboard.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll play around with that, but what I think would be the slickest is to add a bar to the browse window. Like this mock-up:

@stevebaer, @Alain do you think this is a possibility in V6?

Thanks,

Dan

I don’t think we will modify our current browse for folder dialog, but we will be providing plenty more tools in our SDK for creating one of these dialogs yourself.

That would be awesome.

Thanks,

Dan
