Is there a good method/script/plugin to create foldable cutouts?

Once I’ve got my shape built and joined into a single polysurface. I use unjoin edge to on all the edges that are going to be split apart. Then use Unrollsrf with explode unchecked. Finally add the flaps to the unrolled shape with Orient.

Here’s a simple cube with the edges unjoined so you can see how it unrolls CubeUnroll.3dm (2.3 MB)

Thanks Lagom – I just emailed Dunreeb Cutout to see if their application allows for cutting allowances. Surely one of these papercraft applications does.

[EDIT] – nope, no paper thickness allowance functionality, but they said that was a great idea and will add it to the new feature list haha!

is there a pepakura plugin for rhino? I use it as a stand alone program. it’s very useful. and it is cheap. updates come in regularely and install without problem. definitely a recommended program.

Pepakura is Windows only though, right?

Yes, and Ultimate Papercraft 3D as well.

Slicer (formerly known as Make123D) has a Mac version. Although it says “for Fusion360”, it runs as stand alone app, not a plugin. Its been released as freeware.

Thanks for the link I used it long time before and thought it were gone (Make123D). But new name old tool

Thanks - it has taken a surprisingly long time to find this command!

sorry i seem to have missed your question, you can install pepakura via wine, there is an online tutorial somewhere. you can then double click an icon and it will open it almost like a native rhino app. the performance is easy you dont need much there anyway.

Hey Lagom, do you know any method to turn ivy in a bending allowance sensitive plugin? A algorithm maybe?

Sorry, I don’t know Ivy.
