Is it possible to texture map with tga file in rhino mac?

hello all, just wondering if it is possible to texture map in rhino using a tga file? I have a file and a tga that corresponds to it. I got into object properties > material > texture > map file choose > …but it can’t select the tga file…?

just found a solution : convert tga to jpg!!

You might want to use png rather than jpg to avoid the ‘lossy’ (loses data) jpg compression.

A good way to monitor size and quality is to open the file in PS Elements editor, select all, save for web. This opens a window which lets you select between .jpg and .png and gives you a side-by-side comparison of the original to what the new file will look like.

Selecting .jpg lets you control the quality and compression. IIRC, options for .png are 8 bit, 16 bit, 24 bit with or without transparency.

The important part is that as you try the different settings, Elements not only gives you a side-by-side comparison but also the size of the original file and the size of the file about to be created at the bottom of each image. Lets you create the smallest file possible with the highest quality necessary.
