There is a picture attached which helps to describe my problem a little bit better. I want to edit the surface along the curve I created so that its shape creates a little wave. Is there a way to do that? I thought of using the surface control points but its way to imprecise.

It’s hard to impossible to imagine exactly what that means, but if what you are looking to do is making a small indent in the surface along the curve, my initial approach would be to offset the curve to both sides, use the offset to split the saucer shaped surface and then Sweep2 with a profile describing the wave shape you mention. If you want the wave shape to fade near the edge, simply use an arc as the sweep shape at the ends and the wave shape at the center.
Without a sketch or mock-up, hard to understand what that is supposed to mean.
