There’s not a lot of talk or news here regarding it and as a tool it’s still hard to use, missing several basic tools or icons and it’s in need of a bunch of optimizations.
I hope this project isn’t dying since it has a LOT of potential
iRhino is still being developed.
But I need more specific feedback about what’s missing and what’s hard to use so I can focus my efforts in those areas.
You will become that because I think iRhino is an important puzzle tile for the future!
It’s missing an Android version.
Sorry for not coming with a reply yet, I have a lot of ideas but it will take me some time to put them all down.
I don’t want to step on anyones toes or anything, but what’s basically needed is an overhaul of the UI. In order to make it work with the limited inputs that come with using an ipad.
you could get a used ipad like i did years ago, very good in handling irhino and a very reliable piece of technology.
Please do, user feedback is the main driver of this project (like anything else at McNeel)
I’m curious what you have in mind for the UI, I did two major UI redesigns over the past two years. I’m wondering if you’re using the very old version.
hi @mkarimi i did not want to promise anything so far since i have little time for irhino, but i open it every once in a while and i would love to work more sufficient with it, there are some core elements which need some tweaking to make that a better experience, but i was also never sure if that depends on my understanding of the software or if its an inherent issue with the ui itself, i will write up what i have in mind, just one or two major issues to get started in a separate topic the next days
Hi Morteza,
I work for a subcontractor where we use rhino daily. We have begun looking into irhino as a tool for our company as well.
One thing I am struggling with is the selection operation. It seems to have a lot of options of selection but actually selecting objects can be kind of hard.
Obviously I don’t know what goes into this in the back end but I would ask/suggest a easier more reliable method of selecting objects withing a model.
A secondary item is would it be possible to get a more robust properties window for selected objects? We utilize object attributes often and this could be a very helpful feature to view in the selected objects side bar.
Thanks!
What’s not working for you in terms of selection?
- Single tap on an object selects it
- You can perform window select by tapping the icon on the bottom right corner
- You can also select contents of a layer
Are we missing something or the methods above don’t work?
I logged this request here. RV-1353 Selected object attributes
@Jaiden this should already work, if it doesn’t can you provide a file I can look at?
