ON my MacOS Bootcamp installation—Windows 10 Pro—I have successfully installed the Windows version of both Rhino 7 and the 9-WIP: without problem. Updates, likewise.
With the Rhino 8, Windows version, I download the file and run the installer. However, it repeatedly baulks. The splash screen claims repeatedly that I don’t have an internet connection, which makes no sense! (screenshots above and below).
Odd that this one dies, but that error is typically because an anti virus is blocking the .net and c++ components that Rhino downloads from the internet.
Try pausing any anti virus software, (or white list Rhino)
Bootcamp (on Intel) means that I can run Windows 10, therefore run Rhino 9 and therefore delay buying a Silicon-chipped Mac.
In nearly four decades of using Macs, I’ve only bought new … twice
I will soldier on with my trio of Intel-equipped 2018 Mac Minis for a while yet. Two have 64 Gb RAM: one of those has BootCamp and the other is (unusually) upgraded to an i9 processor.
I’m mainly working in Grasshopper. When it comes to rendering, I’ll likely revert to a 2012 Mac Pro which can still support reasonably fast, full-size graphics cards …
KYLE, many thanks for your expert help to successfully install Rhino 8, on Windows 10 Pro, on Bootcamp, via Jump Desktop … on one of my 2018 Mac Minis.
