Installed the latest version of Rhino 8 on MacBookPro Sequoia

Everytime i render in Rhino 8 the program quits. especially when I add a custom environment. It does it everytime, so it’s not intermittent, it is consistent.

I see a couple of crash reports sent by you from today. I will investigate.

@Jim_Girard I have tried replicating the crash with files that have wallpaper in use for rendering, but have been unable to do so. Can you please share a file that uses wallpaper and crashes for you whenever you start rendering? The simplest possible would be great.

If you have files you don’t want to share in public please use our upload tool. I have prefilled my e-mail address so that I get automatically notified when the upload is complete.

I have been testing on an M2 Max with Sequoia (15.1.1), both Rhino 8.14 and upcoming 8.15 builds.

I’ve compressed the file, however it is 21mb and won’t send. What do you suggest. It is for a client so no public display please. I’ve attached my system info for you Nathan.

Just sent the file in .zip format…open and immediately render it. I also included my system info here again for your review…thanks for all your help in advance Nathan. If you don’t mind me asking if you could at least let me know if you’re getting the same results. Again, Running latest MacOS Sequoia on a M1 MaxPro 16" laptop.

Thank you, with your file I now understand how the crash happens, and I can make a fix in 8.15 for next week.

Until that fix is available you have two options:

  1. in the Rendering panel background section make sure you don’t have Wallpaper selected

  2. in Viewport properties panel wallpaper section set a wallpaper file
