Illumination multiplier crash


I had sent a file to Andy last night that was randomly crashing with Neon, and I’ve narrowed down at least one issue to a lamp where the illumination multiplier on the “filament” was set really high, like 200 or 400. It seems that a value of 30 or higher causes it to “wig out.”


Hmm, that only stopped the crashing in a sample file of just one light, on the full model it still crashes with the multiplier set to…well 1 works so far.


…and a multiplier of 1 doesn’t really work for what I’m trying to do, I’m not even sure 1 doesn’t crash. At least it seems to happen if I disable the Caustic board, so it’s not specific to that.

Sorry for the radio silence on this Jim. I’ve actually been testing with this file for several hours, and while I can repeat some problems, I am having similar difficulties to you narrowing it down.

Still investigating.

This is a strange one for sure, I tried replacing the bright objects with point lights for the light source and it still crashes.


No ideas what’s up yet?
