Idle Processor Interrupts UI Actions

How does the Idle Processor actually works? It looks like idle event occurs only in the viewports, meaning if no action is taken in the viewport for certain number of seconds.

My problem is the idle command will interrupt actions taken elsewhere in the Rhino interface. For example if I start renaming the layer it will be interrupted with the Idle Process started. Any way to avoid this?
