I need basic help in scaling a an object to its proper size

I have a floor plan given to me from a pdf which is quite good. I have an object from the supplier’s website that I need to adjust a little bit before scaling to its correct size and adding it. If I upload both drawings, will there be someone who can help. I’m a lifelong Autocad user where this wouldn’t be a problem for me.

The process of doing it in Rhino shouldn’t be that different from AutoCAD.

If you need further help, don’t hesitate to post the screenshots/relevant files

There are few ways to do it.

If you are sure that proportions are correct you can use Galapagos in V7 or new component in G2 WiP: scale to area

If proportions may not be correct, use scale 1D in both directions.

Simple way to scale an object if the correct distance between two points on the object is known.

Distance command to measure the distance between the two points. Record what it is.

Scale command
Select the object to scale
Base point is the location which will not move when the object is scaled.
For scale factor type the correct distance / measured distance.
For example if the measured distance is 31.514 and the correct distance is 34 type 34/31.514
Enter to complete the scaling.

You can use Distance to check the scaling, and repeat the process if any adjustment is needed.

Hi Maxine these are the two files I’m trying to manipulate.

The Cove drawing says 1200, but in fact its a 1600 x 800 one I’d like to resize to 1200 x 800 so that I can create 4 sets of 4 desk.

I’m a bit embarassed to ask what may be simple to do. If there’s help from th Rhino 8 sphere that can help, I’ll be enormouslt grateful

Thank you

@Terry_White As imported the complete unit with letgs. is 60 x 30 x 68.922. I used BoxEdit to scale it by a factor of 1600/60. The desktop unit is 59.5 wide. I used BoxEdit with the same scale factor.

I’ll leave the resizing to you as I don’t know what you want to do with the details such as the notches.

David,

Thanks to you I’ve created the 1200 version I wanted, brilliant.

Thank you.
