Something strange is happening to me, or maybe it’s not just me. I updated to the latest version of Rhino for Mac, when I opened a file that I was working on and I tried to use a command the command windows appeared but If I try to cancel the windows is still there even if I cancel, or even if I put a point or click anywhere seems like frozen, after some clicks Rhino crash down! What’s happening, I uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem is the same one, basically I can’t do anything please resolve this bug as soon as you can
what happens when you open a new file? same thing or is it only happening when you opened a file that you were working on?
Please post the file so we can see if we can replicate the error.
Hi, and thank you for your help, I’m using the latest version of Rhino for Mac (20141202) in a Macbook Pro with 10.10.2 Yosemite and the problem is when I open a file or if I create a new one, the commands don’t work, for example, I try to make a curve, and ask me the position, if I try with the mouse nothing happens, instead if I tried to put a point, ex. 0,0 nothings happens, after this I tried to close the window command and Rhino doesn’t let me close, I have to close Rhino at all of crash. I had been working good with Rhino Beta for a long time but now I can’t do anything
No one else is having this issue, so I suspect that this is a bug in the 10.10.2 beta. Please try running on the current release of OS X, 10.10.1, and see if the problem goes away.
So… that’s all? I have to live with no Rhino for mac?!
they can’t fix it if they don’t know what’s broken.
have you tried rhino on OSX 10.10.1?
as in- trying/answering that will help determine if it’s an OS X bug or a rhino problem
I can’t triy on OS X 10.10.1 after I updated to 10.10.2. I think is something in OS X, that’s for sure! or I hope so! I’ll have to wait for a new version of Yosemite! However thank you!
Edgar, you should report the bugs you’re seeing to Apple. Running beta releases of Mac OS X comes with the expectation that you’ll file bugs (bugreporter.apple.com) when you run into them.
Simon
I have installed the 10.10.2 beta 14C78c released December 4, 2014. I don’t see any problems with Rhino for Mac. If you continue to have problems, please give a detailed description of how to reproduce any problems you have.
I haven’t installed the new OS X update, I’m scared! :-)) I’ll try it tomorrow and let you know!
I have the same problem as Edgar_Cortes, had this problem in OS X 10.10.1 as well as in OS X 10.10.2, I’ve always kept Rhino up to date.
Here’s how to reproduce the problem:
By opening an already existing file:
- Open the file like usual, either through cmd-O, open recent or import (it doesn’t change anything at my problem)
- either enter a command into the command line, click on one of the commands on the left side or access it through the menu bar. (my specific command i used was zoom window)
- nothing happens, I can’t select the window, can’t enter any values, the buttons cancel and done are clickable but don’t do anything.
By creating a new file:
- Create new file as usual
- select any command in any way possible (as above basically) (I tried polyline most often)
- same as above, nothing happens, can’t enter any values, can’t click, and both buttons don’t do anything
I get that Beta versions of OS X can have bugs, but as said i tried this with 10.10.1 as it was a public version. The problem even started on that version.
Hoping someone finds a way to solve this
I am still unable to duplicate this with OS X 10.10.1. From what you describe, no one would be able to use Rhino at all on 10.10.1, and that is not the case. There must be something different about your environment that is causing a problem.
Please post your Rhino settings from About Rhinoceros > More info…
Please post or email your Rhino preferences to marlin@mcneel.com.
After saving your current preferences, try resetting your preferences to see if that fixes the problem.
Hello,
I’m facing exactly the same problem.
I’m on Yosemite 10.10.2, using the last release of Rhino Mac.
It opens fine, but nothing appears in the differents views, whatever the active mode.
Here are the copy/paste of the “about Rhino” section :

Looks like this is a 10.10.2 (Pre-release beta) issue. Can you replicate the issue using Yosemite 10.10.1 (the official release)?
Yes it’s an official pre-release beta.
I can try on another Mac I’m not sure if I did update it with my apple dev account.
I’ll try this and post the result.
[EDIT]
After the last update of the pre-release of OSX, everything is working
here’s a copy of “about” section for info, you’ll see the difference (OpenGl is here)
