This could be achieved with the twist command
Hmm, any other thoughts? The twist command wouldn’t give me the granularity I’m looking for. I want the ridges to fade out as the move down the object. That, and this object isn’t a perfect circle so the twist command might deform it. Let me know wha you think. Thank you!
You can twist a cylinder and then morph it to a similar freeform object using the flow command
start with a cylinder, add edges to make a 3 edge group and pull the center edge in as needed.
then twist each row of horizontal edges 45 degrees to get your twist.
just adjust how deep the center edge gets pulled in to adjust the “fade”
