How do I subobject select with a crossing polygon?
The internet says:
Activate the selection polygon: Type SelPolygon (or SelCrossingPolygon) in the command line and press Enter.
Both these commands are not recognized by RH8.

please give us an example of what exactly you want to do.
sub-selection
(mac)cmd-shift click or rectangle dragging
(pc) ctrl-shift click or rectangle draggging
above is a quite complex selection i can think of:
selection fully curves plus crossed segements.
also check the power of selection filter.

Maybe position your model so you can use right to left cursor movement as a rectangle. A little more work but ----.
Yeah. I just feel like I used to be able to draw odd shaped polygons as selection marquees in the past. Being stuck with a square/rectangle seems obsolete.
Also, I tried other selection tools, (brush) but they did not work when holding Ctrl+Shift for sub-object selection. I’m sure there must be a way to sub-object-select objects within or with a crossing marquee?
There is! Turn on the Sub-objects selection filter and all the selection tools like brush, fence, circle etc will select, and only select, sub-objects.

Edit: Except where bugs prevent it, e.g Brush selection doesn’t work with sub-objects if window mode chosen. R8 bug: sub-object selection doesn't work in Brush window mode
Duh. In all my years of Rhino I was unaware of filters?
