How to split a subd surface?

with norma surfaces you can select whatever thing, use whatever else thing as a cut surface and split the thing

while with subd it doesn’t work, how do you split subd surfaces?

Hello - you can split using the usual objects that work for surfaces and polysurfaces, but the result will be, necessarily, converted to surfaces. Split > EdgeLoop also works on SubD and will not convert the subD to surfaces. ‘isocurves’ in this context are patch edges.

-Pascal

I would add one more detail. If you use the command ToNURBS on the SubD before using Split, you will get far fewer surfaces in the resulting polysrf. This is advisable in most workflows in my opinion.
