# How to sort materials in grid mode (Rhino material editor)?

Hi,

I like the grid mode, nice compact. But it’s difficult to find similar looking materials. It would help to get the thumbnail images sorted by name. But how?

… I have seen now, in list mode there is no sort too.

Hi @Micha,

Not shure if this helps, if you right click on free space in the thumbnails view and select “Float”, the thumbnail view gets seperated and on its previous area, a list of material names is displayed, sorted by name.
