How to select Mesh Edge (other than loop)?

Is there any command/quick way to select mesh edge, but not with the use of Select Edge Loop?

In Rhino 7 WIP you can select a row of connected edges with the following steps:

  1. Press and hold Ctrl and Shift keys and click one edge on the end of the row with left mouse button.
  2. Press and hold Ctrl and Shift keys and click one edge on the other end of the row with left mouse button.
  3. Press and hold Ctrl and Shift keys and double-click any edge between the ends of the row with the left mouse button.

This trick does not work in Rhino 6.
