How to model smooth complex shapes well

Hi All, I use a lot of Rhino + GH but tend to use it for mostly orthogonal and normal geometries. I have recently been interested in modelling more complex 3d shapes but am finding my skills and knowledge in this area severely lacking.

Below are some images of a geometry I want to make - the construction lines and the outputs of patch. I have tried to use Sweep and Loft but given that their isn’t a clear direction / medial axis in the shape, and that the surfaces are intended to be inflated, round and smooth, they haven’t been very useful.

I have an output with patch, but patch isn’t a very good command for many reasons, particularly due to the fact that the outline doesn’t meet the input curve’s boundaries neatly. (I can’t join this hemisphere at the end of the spoke for example, and there is a very obvious seam at the horizontal turning point of the object)

Would anyone mind pointing me in the direction of some useful resources for learning how to model in this way better? I have been thinking about trying another modelling software but would love to stick to Rhino.

you will want to watch this series-

watch the whole series… it’s the single best primer for learning how to model “correctly” I have seen to date. (and I teach people rhino for a living)

Thank you this looks brilliant

I suggest to upload the 3dm file here in Rhino 7 format.
