How to model hull for 3d print miniature scale model

Respected modelers,

I have lots of rc model plans. some rc plans doesn't contain hull details like professional shipyard plans. i like to build miniature scale model for 3d print and currently working in rhino but not getting the result for hull model when I use curve network tool the shape doest follow the curve lines and also when i use offset surface for thickness the model get explode can any one explain what is the correct tool to make this model with the help of this type of rc plans

Hi AW, Take a look at Kyle’s videos, they should get you most of the way there.

its best not to use the preformative text to communicate your issues since that means that one awkwardly has to scroll inside this little line to even read it

how precise does it have to be? do you have any experience using Rhino?

Just chop them up with an image editing software then bring them inside Rhino first one is a good drawing to make something from it

The center helm (not sure what it’s called) is the easiest, just break it down and you will see it’s mostly basic shapes

Can be done in Rhino; insert the image with picture command and then split the image with lines and split tool.

Place the side, front and plan views accordingly and trace the important lines first, like the keel and the sheer line. You can use curve from two views and rebuild & fair the curves to construct the surfaces. That probably will be one of the most straightforward methods to build such a hull for 3d printing etc (although not possibly the best and accurate)

I forgot about that one, can do this image split in Rhino

I’m just stuck in the old ways and getting rusty

thanks for the reply
