How to make this type of drawings in rhino?

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask 2 things: Is it possible to make drawings as this two example images, where in one I have a monocromatic semi-transparent interior and in the other image it has a transparent part of the interior which highlights the other part.

yes you can make these kind of drawings in Rhino, by placing a semi-transparent hatch over the part of the drawing you want to partly hide.

here’s a simple example:

hatch-semi-transparent.3dm (504.2 KB)

how did you create this hatch? Is there a way to select the objects that I want and change the transparency of that item? If not it would be cool to have a feature like that on a detail in layout.

I simply outlined with a polyline the drawing area and the area of the front cabinet, then hatched that

You can also place the objects you want to put in the background on layers that you change the layer color opacity of.

@gijs and for the fist image, how could it be done??

Isn’t that the same using Grayscale layer colors? You can also create a display mode that has no color and then set the detail to that display mode. Monochrome display mode is a good place to start I’d say.
