Your sunflower curves were in pretty bad shape. Lots of overlapping or open areas that made for some problem geometry when extruding them to use them as cutters for a boolean difference.
I cleaned them up into valid closed curves by joining them and rebuilding them where needed which allowed me to extrude them solid and do a successful boolean in this file. Hopefully that helps get you back on track.
