Try searching for “waffle structure grasshopper”, and you will find a lot of example definitions and tutorials for this sort of thing.

if this is not a starter project to learn grasshopper then you might find rhino with history enabled fulfilling such simple tasks pretty fast.
I am obligated to do with Grasshopper 
no problem, its probably a good starter project.
