a more automatic way is to create a perpendicular plane from the line
use a setpt on the point like so
have grid snap on, click next to the origin
Actually it does the job. But here, the red line i draw just for explanation and it has to create each time. i was hoping for some more quick solution.
there’s align method. select your points, type Align, from the comand select line, which you’ll have to draw manually, or to curve if you already have the line drawn

This can also be done just using the gumball - depending on your workflow, it can be a neat solution 
I use dbl-click to move and rotate the gizmo and then just scale to 0.

the rotation of gumball is not accurate. this issue maybe be limited to Rhino 7. But if you try Align command and sub-command toLine, it will be much quicker and you dont have to move gumball and then reset it.
