How to draw out of the Z plane with Mac 7

Hi there,
When drawing for example a polyline with windows, you are drawing on the c plane until you press control, then you can go to the Z axis. I am trying to do the same with Mac but it won’t work. Does someone know how to do it?

the Z axis keeps at 0… i don’t know
