# How do you move the Gumball Square Handle Z distance a specific distance?

When you select a solid object and you grab the square handle on the gumball handle it will let you enlarge the object in the Z direction by grabbing onto the little square handle and moving it up or down… but how do you make the movement in a specific distance? ( example if I wanted to move that handle .04" in the Z direction.

Thanks,

Kent

Hi Kent - click and type the number plus units - e.g. “4mm”

Hi Pascal,
When I do that the object flatens out.

Here is a screen shot showing when I key in .02 ( inches ) The object on the right shows the result.
I’m also attaching the drawing file.

Thanks,
Kent

Oh… I think I get it now… so in this example the current height is .684" ( Half would be .342 )
So if I wanted that total height to be .60" I would just click on the Z handle and key in .30"

Am I understanding that correct?

Hi Kent - yeah the keyed in value is the resulting length of the handle - with whatever effect that has on the scale.
