How do you create a multicolored polysurface?

Question, our company works in multiple CAD software and in the last few months, I’ve noticed that some models that were created in NX and converted to Rhino have multiple-colored surfaces that can retain those colors even when joined. This results in a multicolored polysurface. For the record, I’m working in shaded mode and there isn’t any color assigned in render mode and normally when I join surfaces, they become the same color. Is there a feature in Rhino that lets us do this? It would be very helpful if there were.

Hi Tim - you can sub-object (Ctrl-shift) select faces in a polysurface and assign mateials or display colors to these.
