How do I UnJoin polylines/Curves?

Hello,

I’m fairly new to rhino, so please forgive my lack of proper terminology. I’m having an issue where I used the Join command to join multiple polylines to make them easier to move, but now after realizing I need to delete one segment (that should have two points), I can no longer select any specific segment, it only selects the entire “group”. I tried using the “ungroup” command but that also did not work, and I can still not select and specific segments.

this is the group selected, I tried to use explode and it says it splits it but I can’t select any segments (it just selects them all)

During trying to use Split by point, it lets me select the proper points to split but doesn’t seem to do anything afterward (this picture is zoomed in a bit)

Nothing on the layer is locked and I can select other lines on the layer.

use explode, or in that case if you just want a segment deleted without opening up all the curves you can use ctrl shift and click on the part to mark it then hit delete.

also there is a difference between joining and grouping.

Explode did not work, but control shift did let me select the single segment, thank you.

I do know join and group are different, but I’m not sure how to refer to a number of joined lines. Is it then just considered one line?

It will be a Polyline or a Polycurve, depending on how it was made.

that is strange, maybe you indeed grouped them, it can sometimes happen that you group several times in the process of work, also happens to me, then you have to ungroup several times, or you could try UngroupAll.

usually exploding opens up joined curves, unless you matched and merged them into one continuos curve, or on a straight polyline you can also use simplify which then would delete the cps either
