How do I fill in complex curves?

I am unable to use the Cap command for this because I think the curve is to complex. Is there a command or a way that I can cap this?

Hello @tobedestroyed ,

May you provide the file in question ?

Hey! I was able to use planarSRF on the cruve to cap the edge.

if that is planar cap should work, a file would be interesting nevertheless, it could be a bug.

Note that planarsrf has some built in curve processing in case of overlapping curves. I suspect that is what might be happening here.

@tobedestroyed ShowEdges on that Polysurface might give you an indication why Cap doesn’t give a result.

i think it might be good to get a warning if so, filleting for instance could be a nightmare downstream

edit: ok dumb suggestion

It has that

you guys are so fast implementing new features recently.

?
this has been part of PlanarSrf for a very long time, maybe you didn’t know because you always model cleanly

yes i know, i was writing from my ipad being horizontal, brain turned off and writing dumb comments my bad. i should have known that

exactly  i try to stay clean, but i am still not a dancing queen…

I tried to upload the file but it said it was to big.

did you try save small? anyway compressing it as a zip should also work. you can also just extract that part only with export selected.

Yah I did. I was able to find a solution so I dont have the file as it was in the photo.

Export selected with geometry only is my go-to save smallest option. That way hdri’s etc are skipped.

yes, but saving small additionally compresses the geometry. the compression is similar to zip though

SaveSmall does not compress the file. Save | Rhino 3-D modeling (mcneel.com)

The SaveSmall command saves geometry objects without meshes.

Note

  • Use SaveSmall when you want to save disk space or send the file to someone via e-mail or other electronic media.
  • Your render meshes will regenerate when you Render or Shade your viewports.
  • If your model takes a long time to shade the first time, save your render meshes. This will save time when opening the file or shading the first time.

ic i had a wrong impression about these, thanks for pointing that out.

but that must be broken then, on mac at least, i have a file enriched with some random meshes weighing 311 mb whether this is checked or not it is exactly the same, no compression done at least no difference there. if i zip it it weighs 200 mb.
