You are right on the money! Holomark2 was made for Rhino 5 and just ported to Rhino 6 so Rhino 6 could be directly compared to Rhino 5… And then I started a full rewrite for Holomark3, but then life continued to drag me away on other, more important (and earning) projects. Darn life! Right now I am rebuilding our kitchen so I think I have to focus on that first if I want to have someone in charge of that said kitchen too when I am done :wink: But yes, Holomark2 is horrible for testing Rhino on modern hardware, it’s kind of like a render engine from the 90’ies, you newer know when it’s done…

I would be fine with paying a few bucks for rhino plugins that I use. All through the new package manager maybe? Don’t know, but there should be a simple way (app store like) for plugin developers to monetize their work.

Yeah, I guess I could do something about that one day… maybe patreon.com might be a way, but then people have to make accounts and stuff… but is it worth the time for niche products? I don’t know.

Anyway, here’s a WIP render of the kitchen I am setting up. (Fixing the ceiling, walls, swapping out the flooring and preparing for the electrical is the tasks I do right now.)

I am considering putting that file into Holomark3 by the way.

AFAIK interiors are usually pretty demanding to render - that’s why it’s probably a good idea to include it.
Many of the CPU tests take less than one second. Such a short test is completed within the boost window of a modern CPU. Though this is reflecting common real world use cases, you should also add bigger meshes and parallel mesh operations as well. Something that puts sustained load on the CPU and also tests the multithreading capability.

Yes, I think few would drop a few bucks. I have never used patreon because I didn’t want to set up an account. A simple paypal donate link would be fine. That’s just one klick for most.

For example I use Thunderbird as mail app. They also offer donating via paypal. It’s simple and that’s why donated two times already.

Why not make Holomark3 (for RH7 I assume) a crowd fund campaing? Just put up a simple campaingn on Kickstarter or Indiegogo or whatever else there is and set a low goal. Like 5 to 10K. Some money is better than no money. Or a simple shopify store, they are really simple to set up and you can offer digital downloads.

Update from my side.
I renamed the file adding the extension “rhi” as Terhohalme suggested (i already did in the past but unsuccessfully( ) but now magically worked.
It opens in Rhino 7, not 6.
This result seems good only as food for the database, on the other hand is whispering to my ear "change pc and buy a rtx 30xx… . Quite disappointed to use this pc for internet browsing , but that’s it

FYI support for RTX 3080 in Raytraced was added yesterday. Next week there should be builds supporting it. I don’t have such a card though, so couldn’t really test.

Why is still Holomark only detects
NVIDIA´s gpus - 4095.0 MB max memory only?
Is there any particularly reason for that?

Hi, it’s because i look for in the 32bit part of the registry where this is the highest value (or something like that) This was discussed a bit further up here:

@jeff do you have an example on how I easily can get the right value for both AMD and nVidia cards?

I guess I can alter it to “4GB or more” instead of 4GB as a workaround.

Another score for the database using new machine, i9-10900 + rtx 2070 S.
After this attempt i downloaded the nvidia latest drivers and rhino “testmaxspeed” has improved a lot. Unfortunately, trying now the Holomark it doesn’t finish, crashes after GPU test.
Apart the number, i have to say that this machine eats >1 GB models perfectly, i don’t know if i would see any improvements putting a 3080 , probably ony in benchmarks .
Another thing to say is that imho the diatribe “quadro vs geforce” no longer makes sense. Fast gaming cards run perfectly, no need of “professional” expensive counterparts.

By now I can only see the results in the command prompt…

@Holo Thanks for the great work! The benchmark stops on my new build just after GPU test 15 without any errors on the command bar. Though it was the latest R6 release and rolled back to R21 with the same results. Any ideas? I’m really curious on the results of my new PC. A few specs :

32GB Ram
GTX 2080 Super

I have to investigate, one possibility is that you machine handles so much info that it overlaods something… Holomark2 was never intendet to reach 1000 objects :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

When I compare Legion 5i to my desktop, Intel i7-10750H seems to be faster than AMD Ryzen 7 3700X? i7-10750H run between 4.5 - 4.7 GHz during the test.
