Holomark 2 Released!

@vad indeed strange… the 4790K is a strong processor…
will try turning apps off, to my knowledge i don’t have to much going on at background.

@Micha yes it is, will do some more tests…

… today I received my k4000 and replaced the quadro 4000 ( this one goes into another workstation…).
So as promised here is he score, together with the old one ( only the video card changed…)
As I expected the Nurbs part of the GPU score, which is the important one for my work did not change, the mesh scores of course did…

i did this test awhile back and it came out ok i guess at around 25k but i never really messed with any settings. today i decided to tweak some things and got alot better. of course i have no idea what im doing with the gl settings in rhino or the nivida software either. i basically turned off all rhino anitaliasing and other settings and just let the quadro handle it. keep in mind that this was a pc i threw together for about 400 bucks including the little baby quadro k420. for what it is i dont think the score is half bad.

Hi all,

this is my new PC mark i got.

Petr

It doesn’t seem logical that the 970 outperforms your 980, so can you check what happens if you turn off AA?

Your 2D scores are good, so the CPU is fast, though reduce mesh theoretically should be faster, but I wonder if this has to do with how it handles a single mesh on multiple cores. I presume your CPU runs at 100% load over all cores when that test runs. Can you check that (@andy have you looked into this?)

I replaced my Quadro 6000 by a GTX780, because I have seen the good result of this card. But at my machine this card is slow too. Here the result of GTX285, Quadro 6000 and GTX780. The GTX 780 is a little bit better than the GTX285. For example I expected a GPU4 result around 50…60 fps. My impression is that Rhino doesn’t work good at dual xeon machines.
Any ideas to enhance the speed? I will try to limit the used cores/cpu.

Sidenote: the memory value of the GTX780 is not right shown by the test, there should be 6GB and not 4GB.

Hello
Why is my score so low?

Salut Jennifer, do you have V-Ray loaded? If so, try without. --Mitch

Thanks mitch I will try
here is another holo on the older pc…what is wrong with the new one…:frowning:

No change with all plugs disabled
but my memory stays flat at 2G
on the other computer the memory goes up to 4.6G…

Hi Micha, but wasn’t it the 970 from vad, that impressed you so much?
I mean, 400 units at GPU_16 and 73 frames at GPU_4…
That’s at the GPU_16 double fast then my 7950…
So why the 780?..
Sorry, wasn’t reading every posting since I was last here…

steff

Whoops… Other than that, have you checked your AA settings in options view openGL?
Makes a huge difference. I still don’t know, what settings is agreed upon doing holo2, but I do it AA at 2x, and none none.
If it’s cranked up there too much, framerates drop dramatically. See VAD’s posting earlier in the thread.

What I do not understand with this card, is the dramatical drop in units of GPU_16 between none AA and the higher settings. That does make a difference with the 7950 of about 30%, with the 970, it’s 900%…

At post 433 and 452 there are very good results of the GTX 770/780 too. For me the advantages of the GTX 780 are:

  • 6GB memory good for GPU rendering and future 4K display usage
  • can be overclocked at the nearly the same power like the 980
  • low power consumption, strix model allow passive usage during idle usage

So finally I decided me for the GTX780. It’s a pity that I don’t reach the 50 fps for GPU4. So it stay to hope Rhino 6 will open the door for full GPU power.

Thankx Steff But No change still 13445
I really think its a memory probleme seems that it blocks at 2G and doesnt move…
I will change the memory stick of place on my Mother Board z97-A…

Here is my desktop score at home, I’ll add my laptop and work computer later on as well. Cool benchmarking tool.

Below is my laptop score.

I have checked all settings and the computer is a bombe All is perfectly running
ssd cpu gpu memory
my score on the maxwell benchmark is the highest of the 8 cores 6.6 GB memory
So could it be the installation of Rhino?
I am uninstalling and reinstalling Rhino
Will let you know
