Hinges for Kinetic pattern

Hello everyone,

I am making a kinetic pattern of which 8 pieces of the patterns are attached to each other with hinges.

The movement of the 8-piece-pattern is similar to the one in .gif file which has 6 pieces. However, I could not find a way to make it move.

Could anyone check a look at the .gh file and give me some advices please?!

Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards,

Anthony

Yes, the one I am trying to make is from Daniel’s suggestion. I wanted to change the surfaces and number of pieces of my pattern.

Hi Vikthor,

In the first image below, there are red lines. Each red line actually consists of 2 edges which belong to conjuncted pieces.

Could you please help me attach those edges of the conjuncted pieces (red lines are like hinges), so that when the pattern moves, the pieces don’t “go through” each other?!

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Anthony

Hello Vikthor,

I am trying to make a wall of the pattern by using Orient component, and then manipulate the wall using point attractor. But it didn’t work.

Could you please take a look at the GH file and give me a suggestion?!

Thank you!

Best regards,

Anthony

when it exceeds 90 ° the objects collapse and I don’t know why

Hello Vikthor,

Thank you very much for your suggestion! I really appreciate your help!

I will work on it further more to get the desired result.

It looks like the wrong vector is being chosen here:

In my example with a single unit, these vectors were all perpendicular to the vertical axis, so you’ll need to use vectors perpendicular to the local axis for each unit.

Hello Mr. Piker,

I had the vectors perpendicular to the local axis. However, I don’t know why the results seem to be invalid meshes.

Could you please take a look at the GH file and let me know the reasons?!

Thank you very much!

Anthony

Hello Vikthor and everyone,

I have used the definition you suggested for a new model. Unfortunately, it does not work and I can’t understand why.

Could you please check the GH file below and explain to me the reason it doesn’t work?!

Thank you very much in advance!

With the best regards,

Anthony
