The misinformation is only that it’s not the entire pc-build, but just one component. (And that it’s not about total energy consumption, but about ‘efficiency’ - meaning it applies only to certain scenarios). But it ends up being the same conclusion. A conventional 500hp car, which reuses some of its compressed heated air, is more energy-efficient, but it’s by no means truly energy-efficient for most scenarios. Any rule, which forces to incorporate these changes, has the aim to reduce the total energy consumption within a society. This is pointless if more and more people believe they need high-end devices.
