Hide new layer/object in existing layouts

Just wondering if Im missing out on a simple trick when creating dozens of layout sheets. The problem I have when creating a new layer or object it appears in all existing viewports and so one has to go thru each prevoius layout and hide the new object/layer - the odd page is not such a problem but when the document is 50+ when lots of viewports its time consuming.

Ideally I would like to see a toggle when creating a new viewport with the function “show all new layers from now on automatically” (as it does now) and “hide all new layers from now on” meaning one has too activate new layers manually in the selected viewport until the toggle is switched. The option of a toggle when creating the viewport and throughout development of the document would be so useful.

Hi IanB,

This feature request was added to the Rhino 8 WIP.

I vaguely recall a python script floating around that would iterate through existing viewports and turn off a specified layer. I’ll see if i can find it.

HI Japhy

Thanks for the info - I’ll look into it.

That’s the SafeLayout plugin by @lahos
