Hi, I’m new to Rhino8. I would like to model 6 3/8-16 tapped holes on a 1”x1” tube. For drafting purposes, I would show the tapped hole as a solid lined circle for the minor diameter and a dashed lined circle for the pitch diameter. But I don’t know how to created a dash lined circle. Is there s better way to model a tapped hole? Thank you!
are you trying to solve both modelling and drafting questions?
for drafting
from top view they probably look something like that. from the side view it would just be 2 rectangulars with the same line type i assume. but i dont usually draft holes.
here the outer circle is the thread itself, the dashed curve is the hidden inner part of the thread (i just stylised it a bit you can keep the drafting thickness equal)
you can either put the curves you want in each style on one layer and set the linetype per layer,
or you go to the properties panel after you clicked on the curves you want to change and set the line type there to whatever you want.
Thank you encephalon! Very helpful! Could you explain how to 3D model the tapped hole? Or just a regular hole. My design has 6 3/8-16 tapped holes thru one side of a 1x1” hollow steel tube with a 1/8” wall thickness.
