Heron – “Topography from Raster”

I am having an issue with the Import TOPO component and I would appreciate some guidance.
When I plug the same DEM GeoTIFF into Import TOPO, I consistently get:

Raster Imagery (same boundary, same anchor) works without any issue

This suggests that Earth Anchor, CRS, and DEM itself are valid

Rhino units: meters

Earth Anchor Point: set correctly (lat/long)

Raster Imagery component works correctly (imagery aligns perfectly with boundary)

DEM source: OpenTopography

DEM has been reprojected in QGIS to EPSG:3857 (Web Mercator, meters)

Pixel size: 30 m

DEM info (confirmed in QGIS):

CRS: EPSG:3857

Units: meters

Valid data range (not NoData)

@loc_tran Because that ImportTopo component is not showing the coordinate system message under it, I think it’s an old one from the Heron Example file. Try replacing it with a new one from the GIS Import | Export tab.

Hi i have used ImportTopo in from the GIS Import | Export tab and i use Rhino 7, installed heron 0.4.5

Can i ask which version you use ?

@loc_tran I’m using the same version as you: RH7 and Heron v.0.4.5 to test. It could be the characters with accents in the file path for the DEM file causing the problem. Can you try placing the DEM in a folder without them? If this is indeed the problem, I’ll look into fixing it in the next release, but note, I’ve started building for RH8+ only.
