I would like to ask for a help. I am currently designing some jewelry pieces that should have an ancient look. I just cannot figure how to make them the same as you see on the pictures. Can anyone please guide me a bit? 3d scanning is not an option for me. Thank you.
First! Do you have Rhino Modeling Skills? It takes many different paths to model these, but I don’t think there is an easy recipe to model the above picture without mastering the basics first. it is a combination of Modeling, Texture Mapping, Shading, Lighting and Rendering.
I think the first question is “Why Rhino?”. The irregular shapes illustrated don’t play to Rhino’s strengths: 3DCoat, ZBrush or similar would be more suitable tools.

you could with subd and some clever displacement mapping do these. I agree however you may be not using the best tool for this type of job.
zbrush, or 3d coat as mentioned above may be a better fit.
