Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on the asymptotic line placement for minimal surfaces. Initially, I tried using the Bowerbird plugin in Grasshopper, but I noticed that the generated asymptotic lines have significant errors. I suspect this might be because my base surface isn’t a perfect discrete minimal surface.
While researching, I came across the method of “Creating isothermal quadrilateral meshes from Kobe polyhedra to obtain minimal surfaces” in the forum. Many experienced members have shared scripts and explanations, but I’m struggling to replicate the process.
So far, I have reassembled the polyhedron structure, but I’m stuck at the next step — possibly due to a misunderstanding of the method or incorrect constraint settings. I’m not getting the clean isothermal quad mesh I expected, and I’m unsure how to proceed.
Could anyone offer some guidance or point out what I might be missing? I would be very grateful for any help.
I’ve attached my Grasshopper file for reference. Thanks in advance for your time and support.
